Using Canned Responses

Canned responses are pre-written messages your community admin has set up for you. They save time and keep messaging consistent across your team.


Slash Commands

Type / followed by the command name in the message box, then press Space or Enter. The message is automatically filled in for you.

For example, if your admin created a response with the slash command welcome, type /welcome and press Space to insert it.

If you type a slash command that doesn’t match any response, a list of available commands will appear so you can pick the right one.


Click the lightning bolt button next to the message box to browse all available canned responses. Click any response to insert it.


Personalized Content

Canned responses can include merge variables that are automatically replaced with real information — like the prospect’s name, your name, or community details. You don’t need to do anything extra; the values are filled in when you select the response.


SMS

Canned responses also work when replying to prospects via SMS. Reply with a slash command (e.g., /welcome) and the system resolves it into the full message before sending.


Tips

  • Use slash commands for speed — once you memorize them, it’s faster than browsing the dropdown
  • Review the inserted message before sending to make sure it reads naturally for the conversation
  • If you don’t see a canned response you need, ask your community admin to create one
