Privacy & Safety
Your privacy matters. Here’s how Stoked protects your information when you connect with advocates.
How Your Information Is Displayed
When you start a conversation, advocates see your first name and last initial only (e.g., “Sarah M.”). Your full name is not shared.
What Advocates Can See
Advocates can see:
- Your first name and last initial
- The messages you send in your conversation
Advocates cannot see:
- Your phone number — messages are relayed through the community’s phone number, so your personal number stays private
- Any other personal information beyond what you include in your messages
How Messaging Works
Stoked conversations use SMS (text messaging) relayed through a community phone number. When you send a message, it goes to the community’s number and is then forwarded to the advocate. When the advocate replies, their response comes from that same community number.
- Standard carrier rates apply — your mobile carrier may charge for sending and receiving text messages.
- No app required — everything works through standard SMS on your phone and the community website.
How to Opt Out
You can stop receiving text messages at any time:
- Reply STOP to any message from the community’s phone number.
- To start receiving messages again, reply START to the same number.
If you want to fully disconnect from a community, contact the community directly using the contact information on their website.
Questions?
If you have concerns about your privacy or how your data is used, reach out to the community you’re interacting with. Their contact information is on their main website.
