Advocate Data Import & Export

Import or export advocate data as CSV files.

Where to Find It

Go to Settings > Data > Advocates to access the import and export tools.

Exporting Advocates

Choose from three export formats:

  • Basic — Core contact information: name, handle, email, phone, address, status, and conversation count.
  • Profile — Everything in Basic plus profile details: display name, headline, description, bio link, visibility settings, and custom fields.
  • Wallet — Contact info plus wallet balances, lifetime totals, and currency codes for each configured wallet.

Steps

  1. Go to Settings > Data > Advocates
  2. Under Export, click Download next to the format you want
  3. A CSV file downloads with your advocate data

Importing Advocates

Upload a CSV file to create or update advocates in bulk. If an advocate with a matching email or phone number already exists, they will be updated rather than duplicated.

Expected CSV Columns

The CSV should include a header row. Common columns include:

  • first_name, last_name, handle
  • email, phone_number
  • tags — semicolon-separated tag names (e.g., tag-one; tag-two)
  • visible_on_map, bio_link_title, bio_link_url
  • display_location, display_name, description, headline
  • address_1, address_2, city, state, postal_code, country_code
  • custom_field_{identifier} — custom field values, where {identifier} matches the field’s identifier in Settings > Custom Advocate Fields

The easiest way to get a correctly formatted CSV is to export your advocates first, modify the file, and re-import it.

Steps

  1. Go to Settings > Data > Advocates
  2. Under Import, click Choose File and select your .csv file
  3. Click Import

After import, you’ll see a summary showing how many advocates were imported successfully and any rows that had errors.

Each row must have an email address or phone number. Rows missing both will be skipped and reported as errors.
