Stoked connects you with real people who can answer your questions and share their experiences. Whether you’re researching a product, looking for local recommendations, or just want to talk to someone who’s been there—Stoked makes it easy.

Finding an Advocate

When you visit a Stoked community, you’ll see a map of advocates in your area. Each pin represents someone who’s ready to chat.

  • Browse the map to find advocates near you
  • Filter by tags to find people with specific expertise or interests
  • Click a pin to see their profile, bio, and what they can help with

Starting a Conversation

Found someone you’d like to chat with? Here’s how to reach out:

  1. Click Send Message on their profile
  2. Enter your name and phone number
  3. Write a short message introducing yourself or asking a question
  4. Accept the terms of service and send

That’s it! Your message goes directly to the advocate via text message.

Verifying Your Phone

Before your conversation begins, you’ll need to verify your phone number. This is a one-time step that ensures messages get delivered and keeps the community safe.

  1. After sending your first message, you’ll see a verification screen
  2. Check your phone for a 6-digit code sent via SMS
  3. Enter the code to confirm your number
  4. Your conversation is now active!

Once verified, you can message any advocate in the community without verifying again.

Chatting with Advocates

Conversations happen via text message (SMS). When the advocate replies, you’ll receive their response as a text. You can also view the full conversation on the website if you prefer.

  • Send photos or images if it helps explain your question
  • Take your time—advocates understand you might be busy
  • Ask follow-up questions—they’re happy to help

Good to Know

Use a mobile phone number. Stoked uses SMS for messaging, so landlines won’t work. Make sure you enter a phone number that can receive text messages.

A few other things to keep in mind:

  • Verification codes expire after a few minutes—if yours doesn’t work, request a new one
  • Standard messaging rates apply—your carrier may charge for texts
  • Reply STOP to any message if you want to opt out of SMS notifications
  • Your name appears to advocates as “First Name L.” (e.g., “Sarah M.”) to protect your privacy
