Default Message Prompt

Set a default placeholder message that appears in the message field when prospects compose a message to an advocate on your community site.


Setting the Community Default

  1. Go to Settings > Branding > Map
  2. Enter your prompt text in the Default Message Prompt textarea
  3. Click Update Message Prompt

This prompt appears as placeholder text in the message field on every advocate’s profile page, guiding prospects on what to write.


Advocate-Level Overrides

Individual advocates can override the community default with their own custom prompt:

  1. Go to the advocate’s profile in the admin portal
  2. Open the Advanced Options section
  3. Enter a Custom Message Prompt
  4. Save

When an advocate has a custom prompt, it takes precedence over the community default for that advocate’s profile only.

If no community default or advocate override is set, the platform uses a built-in fallback prompt.


Override Hierarchy

The message prompt is resolved in this order (highest priority first):

  1. Advocate custom prompt — set per advocate in their profile
  2. Community default — set in Settings > Branding > Map
  3. Platform fallback — built-in default
