International Settings

Configure which countries your community operates in and set the default country code for phone number handling.

Accessing International Settings

  1. Go to Settings in the admin sidebar.
  2. Click International.

Operating Countries

The operating countries setting controls which countries your community serves. This determines where your advocates and prospects are located.

To update your operating countries:

  1. On the International Settings page, find the Operating Countries section.
  2. Check the box next to each country where your community operates.
  3. Click Save Settings.

At least one country must be selected. Stoked supports 58 countries across the Americas, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and the Middle East & Africa. For the full list, see Supported Countries.

Default Country Code

The default country code tells Stoked how to interpret phone numbers that are entered without a country prefix. For example, if your default country is the United States, a phone number like 5551234567 is automatically treated as +1 555 123 4567.

To set your default country code:

  1. On the International Settings page, find the Default Country Code section.
  2. Select a country from the dropdown.
  3. Click Save Settings.

The default country must be one of your selected operating countries. If you change your operating countries, make sure the default country is still included.

Phone numbers entered with an explicit international prefix (e.g., +44) are always handled correctly regardless of this setting.

How This Affects Phone Numbers

Stoked uses the default country code whenever a phone number is entered without a country prefix. This applies to:

  • Prospect phone verification during login
  • Advocate phone numbers added by admins
  • Phone numbers submitted through advocate applications
  • CSV imports of advocate data

If your community primarily serves one country, set that as the default and most phone numbers will work without requiring a country prefix.
