Verification code autofill works again on iPhone, iPad, and Mac
FixWeek of May 29, 2026
The recent six-box verification code input looked great but quietly broke Safari’s one-tap SMS autofill: iOS would fill only the first digit and macOS often showed no autofill prompt at all. The boxes are now a visual layer over a single hidden code field — the pattern Apple and Android actually fill — so texted codes drop in with one tap again.
- iOS & iPadOS — tapping the code suggestion above the keyboard now fills all six digits, not just the first
- macOS Safari — the autofill prompt reappears and fills the whole code
- Android Chrome — codes can be filled straight from the SMS (WebOTP), spread across the boxes automatically
- Paste & typing unchanged — paste the whole code into the field, or type it; the form still auto-submits when the last digit lands
