Troubleshooting Incorrect Advocate Map Pins
If an advocate map pin appears in the wrong location, the issue is usually related to how the address is formatted or interpreted by the map service.
Before contacting support, verify the address using Google Maps and make a few small formatting adjustments if needed.
Step 1: Copy the Address From the Advocate Profile
Open the advocate’s profile in the admin portal and copy the full address as it appears.
Example:
5-6-33 Sekime
Joto-ku
Osaka-shi, Osaka 536-0008
Japan
Step 2: Search the Address in Google Maps
Paste the full address into Google Maps.
If available, also include:
- the advocate name
- the business name
- or the community name
Example:
HC WORKS 5-6-33 Sekime Joto Ward Osaka Japan
Step 3: Review the Google Maps Result
If Google Maps displays the correct location, compare the Google Maps version of the address to the profile address.
Small formatting updates can help improve map accuracy:
- Joto-ku → Joto Ward
- Osaka-shi → Osaka
- JPN → Japan
You do not need to completely rewrite the address. Google Maps may display local numbering formats differently while still recognizing the correct location.
Leave street numbers, postal codes, and apartment or unit numbers as originally provided unless the advocate confirms they are incorrect.
Step 4: Update and Save the Address
After making any needed adjustments:
- Update the advocate profile
- Click Save
- Refresh the page
- Verify the map pin appears in the correct location
Step 5 (Optional): Reposition the Pin Manually
If the address is correct but the pin is slightly off — common in rural areas, dense urban blocks, or with PO boxes — you can manually click the map to reposition the pin. See Editing an Advocate’s Location for the full flow.
Still Seeing the Wrong Location?
If Google Maps resolves the address correctly but the advocate pin still appears in the wrong location:
- Save the profile again
- Confirm the advocate address details directly with the advocate if needed
- Contact support for additional review
When reaching out to support, include a Google Maps link to the correct location and a URL to the advocate to help speed up troubleshooting.
