The advocate map follows the card you hover

Improvement

Week of September 19, 2026

On the community site’s advocate map, hovering over an advocate’s card in the list now moves the map to that advocate, so visitors can see where someone is without hunting for their pin.

  • The map glides to the advocate. It zooms in to about metro-area level. If you’re already zoomed in closer than that, it keeps your zoom and just pans.
  • The card you’re on is outlined in the same color as that advocate’s pin (your brand pin color, or a tag’s color if one applies), so it’s clear which advocate the map is showing.
  • Their pin grows so it stands out from nearby pins, and shrinks back when you move away. Move to another card and the map glides to the next advocate.
  • The list stays put while you hover. Hovering doesn’t re-sort the advocates. Panning or zooming the map yourself still updates the list as before.

This works on the community map page and on the embedded map on your own website. It’s a hover effect, so it’s for visitors using a mouse. Tapping a card on a phone or tablet still opens the advocate’s profile as before.
