Tag Questions
A tag question lets applicants pick tags from one of your advocate tag groups while they apply. Their picks are suggestions. You decide which ones become tags on the new advocate.
Pro plan and above. Tag questions are one kind of custom application question, available on Pro and Enterprise plans.
Adding a Tag Question
- Go to Settings > Advocate Applications
- Click Manage Questions, then Add Question
- Choose the Tags kind
- Pick the tag group the question is about
- Write the prompt applicants will see
- Mark it Required if applicants must pick at least one tag
- Click Save
Each tag group can have one tag question. Reorder, edit, or remove it like any other question. See Setting Up the Application Form.
What Applicants See
The question lists the group’s tags that have Advocates can suggest switched on, in tag order, using each tag’s display name. Internal tags never appear. See Advocate Tag Suggestions.
- If the group’s recommended maximum is 1, applicants choose one tag (radio buttons)
- Otherwise they tick as many as they like (checkboxes)
- The group’s recommended minimum and maximum show as hints. They are not enforced
- Required means at least one tag
Applicants get no message about their choices.
When the Question Is Hidden
The question is left off the form when the group has no tags applicants can suggest. A hidden question never blocks submission, even if it is required. The settings page tells you why it is hidden. It is also hidden if your plan no longer includes custom application questions.
Reviewing Tag Choices
On the application’s review page and its inbox card, the choices are grouped by tag group. For each one you can:
- Accept: add the tag to the advocate when the application is approved
- Dismiss: leave the tag off
You can change your mind on any choice until the application is approved or rejected. If the applicant is a returning advocate, tags they already hold show as Already has.
After You Decide
- Approved. Accepted tags are added to the new advocate automatically. For a returning advocate they are added to the tags they already have, and nothing is removed. Choices you did not review carry over as a tag suggestion card in the Activity Inbox.
- Rejected. The choices are closed and no tags are applied.
AI Tag Suggestions
Stoked can also suggest tags for a new applicant. It is off by default and available on all plans. Both of these must be on:
- The AI tag suggestions switch under Settings > AI Assistance
- AI can suggest on each tag you want considered (Settings > Tags > Advocate tags)
What AI Reads
AI reads the applicant’s answers to your application questions, their testimonial, and the tags they picked themselves. It is never sent their name, email, phone, address or location, photo, or uploaded media. For each tag it reads the group name, tag name, display name, and both descriptions, so good descriptions give better suggestions.
What You See
Suggestions show an AI label and a short reason, with Accept and Dismiss, on the application page and the inbox card. They sit alongside the applicant’s own picks. While AI is working, the application page says “AI is still reading this application”. Approving never waits for AI.
AI never suggests:
- A tag the applicant already picked (it shows once, credited to the applicant)
- A tag you already dismissed for that person
- A tag a returning advocate already has
It only suggests adding tags, never removing them. Nothing is tagged until you accept a suggestion or approve the application.
If You Decide First
- Approved before AI finishes. The suggestions go to the new advocate’s tag suggestion card in the inbox, with no notification.
- Rejected. The suggestions are discarded.
Turning It Off
Suggestions awaiting review are deleted along with their reasons. Reviewed ones are kept as a record, but their reason text is erased. Tags already added stay. Any AI work in progress is discarded when it finishes.
Privacy
The reason is treated as the applicant’s personal data. It is erased with the application on a data deletion request and included in data exports.
Deleting a Tag Group
A tag group used by a tag question can’t be deleted. Remove the question first. See Tag Groups.
Export and Import
The question is included in configuration export and import. It points at its tag group by name. See Configuration Import & Export.
