Location Reminders
If you travel or live in more than one place, your map pin can get out of date fast. Location reminders ask you, on a schedule you choose, whether to move your pin to where you are now.
Turning reminders on
- Log in and go to Profile, then Edit Profile
- Scroll to Location reminders
- Pick how often to be reminded and whether to get a text or an email
- Click Update
Your community’s plan sets which frequencies you can pick. Every community has monthly, every 3 months, and once a year. Some also have daily, weekly, and every 2 weeks.
When a reminder arrives
The text or email has a link. Open it and you’re logged in to a page with two choices:
- Use my current location: your browser asks for permission to share your location, then your pin moves to the town you’re in.
- I’m still here: keeps your pin where it is and resets the reminder clock.
The link works once, for 48 hours. After that, log in as usual.
Stopping reminders
Set Remind me to update my location to Never on your profile. While you’re paused under Time Away, you won’t get reminders either.
Your privacy
Stoked never stores or shows your exact location. It finds the town you’re in and puts your pin at a random spot about a mile from the town centre, the same way other pins on the map are placed.
If your browser can’t share your location, you can still set your pin by hand on your profile’s map.
Texts and email
Reminders go to your chosen channel. If texts can’t reach you (for example, you replied STOP), we send an email instead, as long as your email address is verified.
