Tag Groups

Every tag belongs to a group. Groups let you organize tags, set a recommended number of tags per group, and control the order tags appear in.

Managing Groups

Each of the four tag types (Advocate, Prospect, Conversation, Introduction) has its own set of groups.

Go to Settings > Tags
Choose a tag type (Advocate, Prospect, Conversation, or Introduction)
Click Manage Groups

From here you can add a group, edit an existing one, reorder groups, or delete a group.

Adding or Editing a Group

Name: a short, lowercase identifier, like model
Display Name: the label shown to admins, like “Model”
Recommended Minimum (optional): how many tags from this group each advocate, prospect, conversation, or introduction should have at minimum
Recommended Maximum (optional): the recommended upper limit

The minimum cannot be greater than the maximum.

Recommended minimum and maximum are guidance only. Stoked never blocks tagging or an import because a record falls outside the range.

A group’s edit page shows how many records currently fall outside its recommended range, for example “70 advocates have more than 1 tag in this group,” along with a count for records under the minimum.

Deleting a Group

A group can only be deleted once it has no tags left in it. Move its tags to another group or delete them first.

Reordering Groups

Use the up and down arrows to move a group. Moving a group moves all the tags inside it along with it.

Tags Within a Group

Every tag form, for adding or editing a tag of any type, has a Group picker. It is required once that tag type has at least one group. Before then, a new tag goes into a group named after the text before the first slash in its name (model/q45 goes into “Model”), or into “General”.

Tags are listed by group, then by their order within the group. A group with no tags yet still appears on the tags page, so you can see it is ready to use. The one exception is “General”, which only appears once it has a tag in it. Moving a tag to a different group does not rename it, and the tag lands at the bottom of its new group. Tag order also determines which tag wins when more than one tag would set a map pin color, and the order tags appear in message prompts.

Permissions

Only admins who can manage settings can view or change tag groups.

Export and Import

Groups are included in configuration export and import, along with the rest of your tags. See Configuration Import & Export.
