Reconnecting Shopify no longer fails with a webhook error

Fix

Week of June 4, 2026

Reconnecting or re-verifying a Shopify store could fail with a Shopify API error — “Address for this topic has already been taken” — and lock the connection, even though everything was set up correctly.

  • Root cause — Stoked was registering its order and refund webhooks at an address that differed by a harmless trailing slash from the one Shopify stored, so it didn’t recognize them as already present and tried to recreate them.
  • The fix — Stoked now compares webhook addresses the same way Shopify does, so re-registration is safely skipped when the webhook already exists.
  • Self-healing — if a webhook is ever reported as already taken, Stoked treats it as success and keeps the connection healthy instead of locking it.

No admin action required. Any connections locked by this error will recover on their next verification.
