Two-step message form — phone number now optional

Feature

Week of May 26, 2026

Prospects who send a message to an advocate now move through a focused two-step flow instead of a single long form. In the first step they enter their name and message; in the second they choose how they’d like to receive replies and account notifications — by text message or email. Phone number is no longer required.

  • Step 1 — the message: name and message only, no contact details upfront.
  • Step 2 — contact preference: prospects choose Text message or Email. Selecting text prompts for a phone number with Twilio-compliant SMS consent language. Selecting email prompts for an email address with matching notification consent.
  • Twilio A2P 10DLC compliance: phone number collection is now fully optional, satisfying A2P campaign registration requirements that prohibit mandatory phone collection.
  • Email verification path: prospects who choose email receive a 6-digit code to verify their address, just like the existing SMS verification flow.
  • Per-community feature toggle: the two-step form is off by default and enabled per community through the super-admin configuration panel.
