Clearer event forms: time zones spelled out, no double RSVPs, and confirmations for advocates

Improvement

Week of September 20, 2026

Three fixes that make Community Events harder to get wrong.

  • Event forms say which time zone they’re in — public event forms show “All times on this form are in your time zone”, with the zone named. A meeting planned inside a conversation is set in the advocate’s time zone — they’re the host — so that form names it (“Times are in Phil’s time zone: America/Chicago (CDT)”), which matters when an admin in another zone schedules on an advocate’s behalf.
  • One place to register — when a public event has an External link (Eventbrite, Meetup, Facebook, or your own site), its page now sends people there and no longer shows the built-in RSVP form, so nobody “RSVPs” with you and then turns up without a ticket. Anyone who had already RSVP’d before you added the link still sees their RSVP and can cancel it.
  • Advocates see confirmations — advocates now get the same pop-up confirmations admins do (“Event scheduled”, “Event cancelled”, and the rest) across their site, including on the conversation page. Before, their actions worked but said nothing.
