Verification code texts no longer pile up retries when a send is blocked

Fix

Week of June 12, 2026

When a verification-code text was blocked — most commonly because the recipient had previously texted STOP — a background retry loop kept re-attempting the send for up to ten tries, filling the messaging activity log with rejected entries that looked like repeated requests.

  • One attempt per request — a blocked verification send is now final; the activity log shows a single rejected entry per actual request
  • Clearer resend errors — if a member taps “resend code” and the text can’t be sent, they now see an explanation (including how to text START to opt back in) instead of an error page
  • No more sends for expired codes — lingering retries no longer attempt to deliver codes that have already expired
