Changing your phone or email keeps the old one until the new is verified

Improvement

Week of June 2, 2026

When an advocate or prospect changes their phone number or email address, the old, verified value stays in use until the new one is verified.

  • No reachability gap — the proposed value is held as pending and the verification code goes to it, while reminders and conversations keep using the current verified value.
  • Verify to switch — once the new value is verified it becomes the live one; an unverified change can be cancelled, leaving the old value intact.
  • Admins are trusted — when an admin changes someone’s phone or email, it’s marked verified immediately, no round-trip.

Applies to both phone and email, for advocates and prospects. No admin action required.
