Ask applicants to pick tags on the application form

Feature

Week of September 27, 2026

Application questions have a new kind: Tags. Applicants pick tags from one of your advocate tag groups while they apply, and you decide which ones the new advocate gets. Available on Pro and Enterprise plans.

  • Set it up - Under Settings > Advocate Applications > Manage Questions, add a Tags question, pick a tag group, and write the prompt. Each group can have one question, and it can be required.
  • What applicants see - The group’s tags that have Advocates can suggest on, in tag order. Internal tags never appear. A group with a recommended maximum of 1 shows radio buttons, others show checkboxes. Recommended counts are hints only.
  • Review - On the application’s review page and inbox card, choices are grouped by tag group. Accept or dismiss each one until you approve or reject the application. Tags a returning advocate already holds show as Already has.
  • On approval - Accepted tags are added automatically, and nothing is removed. Choices you did not review follow the advocate as a tag suggestion card in the inbox. If you reject the application, nothing is applied.
  • Hidden when empty - If the group has no tags applicants can suggest, the question is left off the form and does not block submission. The settings page says why.
  • Tag groups - A group used by a tags question can’t be deleted until the question is removed.

The question is included in configuration export and import, and points at its tag group by name. Applicants get no notification about their choices.
