Fix: location pins clear when an address change can't be geocoded

Fix

Week of May 24, 2026

Previously, if an advocate’s address was edited to something our geocoder couldn’t resolve, the new address text was saved but the old GPS coordinates were kept. The map pin and the address would silently drift apart — sometimes by hundreds of miles. The only signal was the Location Report flagging the divergence after the fact.

Now, when a geocode lookup returns nothing for an address change:

  • The address text still saves — your edit isn’t lost
  • The old coordinates are cleared — the record stops pretending it knows where the pin should go
  • The Location Report shows the row as “Advocate address missing GPS coordinates” (a category that already existed for genuinely-missing data), so it’s easy to spot and fix

This change is preventive — it only affects what happens going forward when geocoding fails. Existing flagged records still need a one-time clean-up; we’ll handle those separately.
