Customizable Advocate Deactivation Reasons + Cleaner Close Reason Pickers

Improvement

Week of May 11, 2026

Two improvements to how close reasons work in your community:

  • Advocate deactivation reasons are now community-controlled. Previously, the deactivation dropdown was a fixed list of “Inactivity / Suspended / Advocate Choice / Other.” Now there’s a new Settings → Close Reasons → Advocate Deactivations page where you can add, rename, reorder, or remove the reasons your team uses. Existing deactivations were migrated automatically — the four old labels are pre-seeded as community reasons you can edit freely.
  • System reasons no longer clutter the closure pickers. Internal/system reasons like “Auto-Closed” (used when the app auto-closes a stale conversation) and “Unknown” (the fallback when a reason gets deleted) no longer appear in the dropdown when admins manually close a conversation or introduction. They still show up in the settings table — marked with a lock icon — so you can see they exist, but they can’t be edited, reordered, or deleted.

No action required. If you’ve been ignoring “Auto-Closed” in the picker, it’s gone now. If you want to tailor your deactivation reasons, head to Settings → Close Reasons → Advocate Deactivations.
